This weekend’s home opener sees the Griffins face off against not one but two of their fiercest opponents. Fresh off a road victory in their season’s first cup match against Midland, the Griffins’ Development team looks forward to another lively installment into what has become a perennial Division III rivalry against the Arlington Mavericks. Never knowing what strategy Arlington will bring to the pitch, the Griffins are always prepared for a very physical competition.

Following the Division III matchup, the Griffins’ newly promoted Division II side will debut against the Dallas Athletic Rugby Club [DARC] who are also back in Division II after having been arguably the strongest team in DIII last season. With a lineup consisting of Griffins veterans who’ve come up through the ranks and a host of new faces, including former Cardiff Blue and Welsh international Robin Sowden-Taylor (who joins the club part-time to be part of the new setup under Phil Camm and Kingsley Jones), the Griffins are looking to field their best side yet.

Join your Griffins this Saturday, November 19, 2011 as we face off against Arlington at 2 p.m. and DARC at 4 p.m. at Dr. Pink Field in the Pizza Hut Park complex, Frisco.

  1. And you can’t disregard the fact some of DARC best players have decided to go play with the Griffins because of their outstanding organization. My son Mile Austin decided he would move to the Griffins simply for that reason. Thanks Griffins for letting me play with my son in your inter-squad game a couple of weeks ago even though it was short lived, still nursing that hammy!!! Keep your head up son; they’ll be coming after you…LOL… See you on Saturday!!! Go Griffins!!!
